Dr. Tom Shelton

Owner

Dr. Tom Shelton opened Vogel Veterinary Hospital in 2003. He has been practicing in the St. Louis area for 35 years. He grew up in Miami, Oklahoma, where he spent time working on his father’s farm. This is where his love of animals and interest in veterinary medicine began.


Dr. Shelton met his wife Kathy while attending Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College, he then attended Oklahoma State University for the remainder of his animal science degree and veterinary school. After graduation, he moved to Missouri and began his career. His passion for providing exceptional medical care to his patients and building lasting relationships with his clients was the driving force in him and Kathy opening Vogel Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Shelton and Kathy have two daughters who work for the practice and a son who is an assistant golf pro at a local country club. When he is not treating patients, Dr. Shelton and Kathy enjoy traveling around the United States and abroad.

Dr. Shelton is an avid golfer and enjoys visiting famous golf courses. 


Dr. Shelton and Kathy also love spending time with their four dogs, Arthur, Rickie, Rory, and Blue.

Dr. Amy Gerfen

Veterinarian

Dr. Amy has about 15 years of experience in the veterinary field. She graduated from Ohio State University and did her internship with the Veterinary Specialists of Northern Colorado.


She decided to work at Vogel Veterinary Hospital because she liked the facility and their policies. She also appreciates the quality of care each person puts in for our patients. Her favorite part of working in the veterinary field is getting to watch babies grow into adults and help keep them and their families healthy and happy.


Dr. Amy has 3 pets: A Red Heeler named Amber, and 2 cats named Maxwell and Chase.


Dr. Sarah Sodko

DVM

Sarah graduated from University of Missouri in 2007 and has over 10 years in the field. 


She loves the amazing staff and working with all the pets and clients at the office. Educating clients on how to provide the absolute best life to their pet is her favorite part of being in this field. Showing them better options on how to give their pets longer healthier lives so they can spend as much time as possible with their pets.


She has 3 cats, a golden retriever and 1 pet snake.

Dr. Kimberly Klotz

DVM

Dr. Kim Klotz is a 1994 graduate of the University of Missouri - College of Veterinary Medicine. She has practiced veterinary medicine in the Saint Louis area for over 29 years. Kim and her husband Damon are the parents of two adult children (Ashley and Matthew), a dog (Skylos), and 2 cats (Mint Julip and Daenerys Targaryen).


Dr Klotz is passionate about making every pet’s experience as comfortable as possible. She is Elite Fear Free Certified and has her Cat Friendly Certification from the American Association of Feline Practitioners. She is also PennHIP certified to serve your dog’s hip imaging needs.


When not working she enjoys reading, photography and spending time with her family. She also enjoys watching figure skating (especially ice dancing), the Blues and the Mizzou Tigers. Dr. Klotz is very excited to be joining Vogel Veterinary Hospital as she furthers her veterinary career.

Lindsey Shelton

Practice Manager

Lindsey has 2 degrees: a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of Missouri, Columbia and a Master of Arts in Human Resources, Training & Development from Webster University. 


Lindsey recently received her CVPM (Certified Veterinary Practice Manager) certification and has been nominated for Practice Manager of the Year through the Veterinary Hospital Managers Association.


With 20 years of experience in the veterinary field, she has used her talents and education to support her family's business. She loves her coworkers and adores being able to see her family every day. Lindsey’s goal is to make sure Vogel Veterinary Hospital is a sought after practice to work for in the St. Louis / Arnold veterinary community.


Lindsey enjoys traveling with her husband Brian and caring for their sassy cat, Shade.

Head Veterinary Technician

Julie has several years of experience in the veterinary field and received her Bachelor of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology in 2006. In 2007, she received her license.


She has a long history with Vogel Veterinary Hospital; her family brought their animals to Dr. Shelton when she was young! During college, Dr. Shelton offered her a job and she's been here since. 


Her favorite part about working in the veterinary field is working with cats. Friendly, scared, or upset - Julie knows how to handle them all.


She has 6 cats: Lyra, Theo, Sprocket, Lasagna, Misty, and Beau. She also has a Gecko named Lumi!


Tynette Delonjay

Registered Veterinary Technician 

Tynette is a Registered Veterinary Technician. She graduated from an A.A.S. program at Jefferson College in 1997, with honors, and amongst the top of her class. She went on to pass her state and national board exams in June of the same year. She never looked back.


Tynette started working at Vogel Veterinary Hospital to stay close to family and support the community that she lives in. While she enjoys specialties like neurology, internal medicine, and ultrasound, she believes pet parents are just as important as their animals, and does everything she can to equip them with the knowledge to better care for their pets.


Her furry family members, Evie, Malcolm, and Murie, allow her and her husband Roger to live with them. Evie also encourages them to take her on all of their road trips.

Kelsey Iven, M.S, B.S, RVT

Registered Veterinary Technologist

Kelsey is a Registered Veterinary Technologist. She attended Murray State University in Kentucky and achieved her Bachelors of Science in Agriculture, as well as a Masters of Science in Agriculture with a certification in Veterinary Hospital Management.


She has worked with Vogel Veterinary Hospital since June 2019 as an RVT. Kelsey has 2 dogs, 2 horses, and 2 cats. She spends her free time at the gym, caring for her animals and watching crime documentaries. She is very passionate about animal care and enjoys spending each day caring for the patients at Vogel Veterinary Hospital.


Emily Feldewerth

Veterinary Technician Assistant

Emily is currently enrolled n the vet tech program at Jefferson College and in her 2nd year but she started out as receptionist before. She's excited to finally be pursuing a vet technician position and is passionate about her work. She loves this field because the office staff treats everyone like family and there are so many learning possibilities. 


She loves learning about the different characteristics of different species and breeds of animals and how to best assist in each instance. She loves learning about the anatomy of animals as well.


She has an Australian Shepherd/ Dachshund mix named Kai who is also pictured!


Working at a zoological park for a short time she got to work with exotic animals such as a fennec fox, a bearded dragon and an african porcupine and she was able to learn about so much about these exotic creatures. Exotic animals have become a side passion for her and she is always happy to provide assistance and care of them if need arise.

Registered Veterinary Technician 

Ashley has 20 years of experience in the veterinary field and graduated from Jefferson College Veterinary Technology program with an Associate’s degree in Applied Science in 2005. Most recently, Ashley completed a course to become an Expert Trainer to help new employees gain confidence in their skills and veterinary knowledge.


Ashley joined the team at Vogel Veterinary Hospital in 2019 and loves working close to home and helping the pets in her community. She particularly enjoys venipuncture and educating clients on pet care.


Ashley has one dog, 2 cats, and 2 adorable pet rats.


Rachel Drury

Registered Veterinary Technician

Rachel started here at Vogel as a intern in 2017.  When she graduated from Jefferson College's Veterinary Technician program the next year, she joined us full-time as a registered veterinary technician.  Rachel's main areas of interest in veterinary medicine are surgery, dental cleanings, internal medicine and euthanasia.  Although its never easy to watch our clients lose their beloved pets, Rachel is grateful for the opportunity to be there for pets and their families during those difficult times.


Rachel lives with her husband Adam, their baby daughter Evelyn, and their menagerie of animals. In 2021, Rachel took the clinic cat Sparky home with her where he's been happily enjoying retirement.  She also has a cat named Kitten,  a Beagle/Basset/Aussie mix named Paige, a bearded dragon named Drogon, and an Miniature schnauzer named Griffin.  Rachel is considered our resident Schnauzer lover.

Jess Kleisly

Veterinary Technician Assistant

Jess started working at Vogel Veterinary Hospital in June of 2021 as a veterinary technician assistant . She went to South Technical High School, where she earned her veterinary assistant certification. Jess is now planning on attending Jefferson college and enrolling in the veterinary technician program.
 
Jess’s love for animals goes far beyond just cats and dogs. Jess has over 7 years of experience, training and riding horses. And has found a love for reptiles through working at a local pet store.
 
Jess loves working at Vogel Veterinary Hospital because everyone there is like family and her coworkers all push her to be the best she can be in the veterinary field. Jess has 3 pets: Roxi, the sassy cat; Daisy Mae, the cavachon; and Sky, the husky mix who is Jess’s soul dog and also featured in the photo.


Kerby Shelton

Receptionist

Kerby is a receptionist at Vogel Veterinary Hospital with more than 10 years of experience caring for animals.


She has two pets of her own - her tabby cat, Vinny and her chocolate lab, Drake. Between these two there is never a dull moment. 

 

Outside of the office, Kerby has a passion for fitness, loves cooking, and spending time with family and friends.

Molly Miriani

Receptionist

In 2008, Molly left her corporate job to take care of her two children. When her youngest entered high school, she returned to the working world. She was excited that returning to work would come with the benefit of getting to be around the cutest cats and dogs in town.


She’ll greet you with a smile when you come in, and you can check out the holiday decorations that she enjoys putting up around our facility. Additionally, you may hear her talking about a subject that is near and dear to her heart, the importance of keeping your pet on heartworm preventative year-round.


She has an Australian Cattle Dog mix named Arrow, who is also pictured. 


Rachel McClarney

Part- Time Receptionist

Rachel received her Bachelor's of Science from the University of Missouri-Columbia and works diligently with her coworkers and the wonderful family companions that come in everyday. 


Her favorite part about working at Vogel Veterinary is the compassion her coworkers show towards the animals that walk through the doors, and watching them do everything they can to keep them happy and healthy. 


Rachel's love for animals fills her home, she has four dogs: Zeus, Levi, Isabel and Diamond. In addition to her dogs, she has kitties named: Moonshine, Mistletoe, Angus, T-Cat, and Piper.

Emma Chard

Emma started at Vogel Veterinary Hospital in July of 2021 and has loved working here. She is currently enrolled in the Vet Tech Program at Jefferson College going into her second year. Emma also attended South Tech as well for the Veterinary Assistant Program and received her CVA. Emma has been bringing her pets to Vogel Veterinary Hospital for as long as she can remember. Everyone at Vogel Veterinary Hospital is so welcoming and always ready to help when needed which has made Emma's time at Vogel Veterinary Hospital so amazing. 


Emma has three pets of her own. Two dogs - Ellie Mae who is a Weimaraner chocolate lab mix on the left in the photo and Dixie, the Vizsla on the right. Also, one cat named Auggie who made her into a cat lover.


Claire Heying

Claire began working for Vogel Veterinary Hospital in the spring of 2022 and is currently enrolled in Jefferson College’s Veterinary Technology Program. Claire has two goats named Jack and Sally, 10 chickens, and a cat named Sprout.
